What will I Learn?
With Learning World Academies you will be gaining a full Apprenticeship Framework including a Diploma and NVQ Level qualification.
BRICKLAYING DIPLOMA
To gain the Bricklaying Diploma, you must complete seven core competent units for construction as well as the specific skills required for bricklaying. On the programme you are expected to complete both knowledge tests and practical skills assessments, You are taught everything you need to know at the Learning World Training Academy.
The Seven core units are:
- Safe working practices in construction
- Information, quantities and communicating with others
- Building methods and construction technologies
- Interpret working drawings to sent out masonry structures
- Thin joint masonry and masonry cladding
- Build solid walling, isolated and attached piers
- Build cavity walling forming masonry structures
In addition to the core skills, you will also develop and demonstrate literacy and numeracy skills to a minimum of Level 1. We provide you with a comprehensive training programme that recognises that specific skills are required in some industries.
You will also complete the following training programmes as part of your apprenticeship:
- Abrasive Wheels – Delivered by qualified instructors leading to the award of a certificate of competence.
- Employment Rights and Responsibilities – providing you with a thorough understanding of both your personal and employers roles and responsibilities.
- CSCS Health and Safety Test – You will complete your health and safety test in your first six weeks of the programme so you are able to attend work placements on site.
- Wider Skills Development – Learning World Academies will encourage you to develop your own skills and awareness of equality and diversity, equal opportunities, team work, responsibility and citizenship, and maintaining and developing interests.
SITE CARPENTRY DIPLOMA
To gain the Site Carpentry Diploma, you must complete eight core units for construction as well as the specific skills required for site carpentry. On the programme you are expected to complete knowledge tests and practical skills assessments. You are taught everything you need to know at the Learning World Training Academy.
The Eight Core Units are:
- Safe working Practices in construction
- Information, quantities and communicating with others
- Building methods and construction technologies
- Carry out first fixing operations
- Carry out second fixing operations
- Erect structural carcassing
- Carry out maintenance
- Set up and operate a circular saw
In addition to the core skills, you will also develop and demonstrate literacy and numeracy skills to a minimum of Level 1. We provide you with a comprehensive training programme that recognises that specific skills are required in some industries.
You will also complete the following training programmes as part of your apprenticeship:
- Employment Rights and Responsibilities – providing you with a thorough understanding of both your personal and employers roles and responsibilities.

CONSTRUCTION OPERATIONS DIPLOMA
To gain the Construction Operations Diploma, you must complete six units covering the core competencies for construction, as well as the specific skills required for general construction. On the programme you are expected to complete knowledge tests and practical skills assessments. You are taught everything you need to know at the Learning World Training Academy.
The Six Core Units are:
- Safe working practices in construction
- Information, quantities and communicating with others
- Building methods and construction technologies
- Establish work area protection and safety – general construction
- Lay domestic drainage
- Place and finish non specialist concrete
In addition to the core skills, you will also develop and demonstrate literacy and numeracy skills to a minimum of Level 1. We provide you with a comprehensive training programme that recognises that specific skills are required in some industries.
You will also complete the following training programmes as part of your apprenticeship:
